From now on the new optical transmission system from SPAUN electronic is available.

The HF-signals arriving at the LNB are prepared by the transmitter SOTx 1310607 NF and sent as optical signals in the wavelength of 1310 Nm over a fibre optics cable to the optical receiver SORx 1310607 NF.

The optical receiver puts the input signals back to up to 4 fibre optics cables again into the HF-frequency range for a classical coaxial signal distribution.

The advantage of this system is a very small absorption of the laser signal in the fibre optics cable. Radio and TV-signals can be transfered thus low-loss over long distances. Beyond that an optical signal is not impaired by HF-spurious frequencies.

For some days SPAUN electronic delivers the new mains powered amplifier SVN 231 F.

The SVN 231 F is available as the first SPAUN amplifier with two switchable modes of operation for various application possibilities.

In the mode A of operation the SVN 231 F is operated as classical signal amplifier with an input and an output. 22 kHz and DiSEqC signals will pass on internally.

The mode of operation B makes available two seperate signal inputs for SAT IF signals and terrestrial signals. The signals are channeled together, amplified over a multiband diplexer and passed on to an output.

For SAT IF signals on the input side an attenuator is available as well as a slope control. For the terrestrial frequency range an attenuator is available.

The amplification of the signals takes place practically in splitband technology. Terrestrial signals are amplified with 20 dB, SAT IF signals however with 30 dB.

Furthermore if necessary a remote power supply voltage can be activated of 18 V/400 mA. This can be switched and/or deactivated alternatively on the SAT IF input to the LNB supply or however on the output of the SVN 231 F.

In contrast to SMS 4442 F, the multiswitch  SMS 4442/8 F offers a lower through loss (important for the cascade), but the tap loss of approx. 8 dB at the subscriber terminal is a little bit higher.

The current consumption rate is max. 40 mA per subscriber, so that SAT-receivers with a lower output performance can perfectly accommodate the receiver output of the multiswitch and the LNB with an sufficient amount of voltage.

Special features of the US SAT DirecTV market “wideband” made it necessary to develop special SAT-multiswitches.

The following programs are affected by this new configuration: EinsExtra, EinsFestival, EinsPlus, ARTE und PHOENIX. After a transition period until 02.06.2008, they will be exclusively available on transponder 51.

It should be noted that the Transponder 51 is transmitted in low band of ASTRA satellites. The result is that in so-called reception or unicable distribution network systems, in which only the high-band ASTRA will be distributed, the digital programs cannot longer be received.

As in the near future further changes in the occupancy of the transponder ASTRA satellites can be expected, a distribution of all SAT-4 IF-ranges is necessary.

Special features of the US SAT DirecTV market “wideband” made it necessary to develop new SAT-multiswitches.
These special versions were first mentioned together in a special US catalogue.

Beginning of this year SPAUN electronic presented firstly a new 4 SAT-IF compact multiswitch series for 6, 8, 12, 18 and 22 subscribers.

Major product features:

- active input for terrestrial radio and television programs (including DVB-T)
- special satellite IF input stages capable for higher SAT input signal levels
- high selective input filtering guarantees that interference products of the LNB cannot drive the amplifiers into saturation
- integrated slope pre-compensation for optimized signal levels at outputs
- integrated LNB supply voltage selector (SPAUN patent)

SPAUN-typically, the new SAT multiswitches have the approved Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) technology with a standby function. This allows a long lasting power-efficient operation of the devices. The first time a space-saving vertical mounting of the 4 SAT- IF multiswitches can be provided by an intelligent new housing concept with an optimized ventilation of the SMPS part.
